Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, and Deepak Puniya clench 3 gold medals for India.

CWG 2022 Day 8: Bajrang Puniya defends his title and brings a gold medal in the men’s freestyle 65kg

Deepak Puniya too wins gold in the men’s freestyle 86kg weight category. Sakshi Malik with another gold medal, meanwhile Anshu Malik wins silver in the 57kg weight category. Mohit Grewal and Divya Kakran won bronze medals for India.

Bajrang Puniya was a class apart while title before Sakshi’s aw gasping sensational gold medal as the Indian wrestlers grabbed 6 medals including 3 golds on Friday.

 

 

India is at 5th after Friday's gold rush.

With the courtesy of 3 gold medals in a single by Bajrang Puniya, Sakshi Malik, and Deepak Puniya India is at 5th rank in the overall count of medals.

Ahead of Scotland, South Africa, and with Australia at no.1 and England at second.

Heartbreaking loss for the Indian women's hockey team.

Indian women’s hockey team loses to 4 times champion Australia at a score of 0-3 in the shootout. And later in the semifinals on Friday both teams were tied 1-1 at the end of the regulation time

 

Rebecca Greiner scored then Vandana Katariya equalized in the last 49th minute. Though India made an aggressive start and had its first chance in the first 8 minutes of the game Australia survived the attempt.

 

In the third quarter again a cutthroat fight between both sides. In the 44th minute, Australia secured 5 penalties, but Indian captain and goalkeeper Savita put up a valiant show to deny any further lead to their competition.

The men's relay team qualifies, and Hima Das loses.

Hima Das, the biggest athletics hope lost in the semi-finals of the women’s 200-meter race. whereas the men’s relay team did make it to the finals in the 4x400m Relay.

Medals for India at Para TT and Lawn Bowls.

For lawn bowls in India, another historic day was witnessed, after winning the gold women’s Fours team, the men’s team came from below to beat their home favorites England in the semi-finals to secure another medal for India.
