While the whole Bollywood industry is struggling with the Boycott trend, Vivek Agnihotri said that the Boycott trend is good. Even before the movies are released the issue of boycott is faced by the creators of the project. Generally, this narrative is based on something ‘Anti-National’, or something that hurts the sentiments of some religious bodies. The past comments and some tweets are making the situation more difficult for the creator, makers, and actors acting in it.
Vivek Agnihotri on Amir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha‘s failure, said that after he made the comment in which he said that every morning he is afraid to open the newspaper and he is afraid to live in this country. His Dangal movie after that was a national hit and broke multiple records, and now he cannot blame the boycott trend for the failure of his movie in current days.
‘This fake business model,’ said Vivek Agnihotri
“Dangal had released after Aamir made those comments. It turned out the biggest hit despite the boycott conversations surrounding it. One thing I want to add is that I am not against anybody. All I want is that the film industry should reform. This fake business model is like a hot air balloon that has burst. The industry should come back to the fundamentals which are the story, writer, and director. That’s what they should focus on rather than just focusing on the stars and their PR campaigns.” said Vivek.
According to Vivek Agnihotri, the boycott campaign is ‘extremely good’ because it is letting out the frustration of the people, on the content that Bollywood is producing nowadays. He also added that the result of this movement will be ‘very positive’ at last.
Later on, Anupam Kher also made a statement on this saying that Amir Khan cannot blame the trend for the earning situation of his movie. He said, ‘Why can’t we just accept that maybe Laal Singh Chaddha wasn’t a good movie?’
