Kolkata, 16th July 2024: Pongila Productions is thrilled to announce the launch of its highly anticipated first Bengali feature film, Suchana: The Beginning. This thought-provoking film introduces two talented debutantes, Megha Mukherjee and Rup Deb, who are all set to captivate audiences with their fresh and compelling performances.
Suchana: The Beginning is a poignant tale that delves into the intricacies of human relationships, dreams, and the journey of self-discovery. The film promises to be a cinematic experience that resonates with viewers on multiple levels, combining powerful storytelling with breathtaking visuals. The film will be released on Friday, July 26th in theaters across Kolkata and West Bengal.
The film is an interesting mix of romanticism and unpredictable twists. While the storyline takes the audience on a mesmerizing trip through Sikkim’s beautiful valleys, dense forests, and curvy roads, the characters, though together, clearly seem to be traversing their own individual journeys. Moments of emotions confront unknown threats. Flutters in hearts are chased by screeching cars. Submission to the past is left to deal with the unpredictable future. And best of all, romanticism is musically entwined with interesting, unexpected interventions.
Director Pausali Sengupta, known for her visionary approach and deep understanding of the human psyche, leads this project. Speaking about the film, Pausali said, “With Suchana: The Beginning, we aim to explore the essence of new beginnings, both in the story we tell and in the talented new faces we introduce to the industry. Cinema is the language I’ve chosen to speak, and now, with my first feature film in Bengali, I hope to resonate deeply with hearts, transcend barriers, and paint stories that linger in the soul long after the credits roll.”
The movie has been shot beautifully in the scenic locations of Sikkim, enhancing the visual storytelling with its breathtaking landscapes. The DOP of the film, Bikram Anand Sabberwal, has done a commendable job in the challenging conditions of the terrain. The music for the film is composed by sarod player Arko Sen, with lyrics by Aroop Ghosh, featuring soulful performances by singers Shreyan Bhattacharya, winner of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs, Shovan Ganguly, and others. Shreyan has also written a coming-of-age song for the film.
