Mrs. Chatterjee Vs. Norway Critique: Rani Mukerji’s film is best for the narrative

Rani Mukerji portrays Debika Chatterjee in Ashima Chiobber’s movie Mrs. Chatterjee Vs. Norway. Under the guise of poor parenting, the Norway Children’s Welfare Program separates Debika from her two small children. It is inevitable that a movie would touch viewers’ emotions. When the plot revolves around a mother’s tenacious quest to reconnect with her children. Mrs. Chatterjee Vs. Norway, which is based on a true story that occurred in 2011. A diplomatic dispute between India and Norway. It has excellent writing and acting but is nonetheless difficult to see. It frequently brings tears to your eyes and even causes you to consider what-if scenarios.

What was the allegory behind it ?

India shaken by the actual incident that occurred in 2011. As most people interested in the experience of the Indian couple Sagarika Bhattacharya and Anup Bhattarcharya with Barnevernet. The Norwegian Child Welfare Services, who had forcibly removed their children under the pretext of poor parenting. The couple accused of feeding their kids with their hands, letting them lie in their beds and using eyeliner on their eyes. The mother referred to as mentally disturbed.

Meanwhile the father accused of failing to assist his wife with domestic duties. The terrifying episode  widely covered by the Indian media. It also sparked a diplomatic dispute about cultural differences between India and Norway. As the Mrs. Chatterjee vs. Norway narrative is well known, it was more difficult to keep the audience interested in the movie.

Rani Mukerji showed her Bengali culture in the narrative

The film, which co-written by Chibber, Rahul Handa, and Sameer Satija, captures the proper tone of despondency, ambiguity, and anxiety. If credit is due, the authors should receive it. They accurately portray emotionsas a result, you find yourself empathising with the mother and her excruciating agony at being separated from her kids. Chibber also does a good job at emulating a traditional Bengali home. Conversations between Mukerji and Bhattacharya in particular resemble arguments or dialogues between Bengali spouses.

The supporting cast is excellent. Anirban Bhattacharya is a very well-known Bengali actor. He makes his debut in this Bollywood movie as Mrs. Chatterjee. His character is of a slightly chilly, cunning and self-centered person. Who  only  interest is to obtain a Norway citizenship. Bhattacharya is widely recognised for giving complex performances in a variety of Bengali movies, and in Mrs. Chatterjee Vs. Norway, he truly shines as Anirudh, to the point that you end up despising him.
