The Last of Us is an upcoming post-apocalyptic American television drama series. The web series is an official reincarnation of a 2013 blockbuster game, with the same name, The Last of Us. HBO studios are producing the Naughty Dog game into a web series.

“If you don’t think there’s hope for the world, why bother going on?”, said Ellie. The recent trailer deals with much heavier and more emotional scenes in the story. With the clicking of the clickers(a type of infected in the series), Joel explains, ‘You haven’t seen the world, so you don’t know.’ Joel later explains that we must keep going for family and she is not his family, she is his cargo. This explains what Joel has gone through after losing his daughter Sarah and he is trying not to attach to Ellie.
The backstory of the game/web series
Joel(Pedro Pascal) is a post-apocalyptic survivor, who lost his daughter Sarah in the chaos of the outbreak. After 13 rough years of destruction of modern civilization, Joel turns into a smuggler with his friend Tess. Joel is tasked by the group of rebels(‘FireFlies’) to smuggle this little girl Ellie(Bella Ramsey) to create a vaccine for this outbreak.
The movie is about survival and escapes from these fungal-infected human beings who bite their prey to spread this virus. Were-humans such as runners, clickers, and bloaters are the dangerous categories in the respective order. The movie also rediscovers the brutal human nature and discrete love for the lost.
As violent as the game?
Whoever knew the 2013 game, knows it was way more violent and brutal than it can ever possibly be made for TV. The web series’ key writer Neil Duckman states, “We need a certain amount of action, or violence, that we could use for mechanics so you could connect with Joel and get into a flow state,”. Duckman also explains how is it going to be fun to smash enemies’ heads with the brick.
Writers Neil Duckman and Craig Mazin reveal their plan to remove all the violence from the web series which is not essential for its story. Neil promises to make the Clickers as scary as possible.
