From Theatre to the Screen: The Journey of Abhishek Kumar into Films

Every actor’s journey is unique, shaped by their experiences, challenges, and relentless pursuit of their passion. For Abhishek Kumar, his journey into the world of films has been one of dedication, perseverance, and an undying love for the craft. With his debut song Ishq Na Kario set to release on February 7th, 2025, Abhishek is now stepping into the cinematic world, but his story begins long before the cameras started rolling.

Born and raised in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, Abhishek’s early years were filled with a deep curiosity and a desire to explore various interests. He started his schooling at Delhi Public School in Dhanbad before moving to Lawrence School, Sanawar in Himachal Pradesh for his formative years. Later, he completed his 10th and 11th grades from DAV School, Koyla Nagar, and finished his 12th at Doon School, Dhanbad. Throughout his school years, he showed a keen interest in storytelling and performance, but it was during his college years at RD National College in Bandra, Mumbai, where he began to seriously hone his acting skills while pursuing a BA in Political Science.

Abhishek’s deep passion for acting led him into the world of theatre, which would become the foundation of his craft. For the last three years, he has been an active member of Asmita Theatre Group, under the mentorship of acclaimed director Arvind Gaur. Theatre provided Abhishek with the discipline, spontaneity, and authenticity required to bring characters to life. He performed in numerous major productions, including the renowned courtroom drama Court-Martial, which has been performed over a thousand times across India. Abhishek also brought the compelling works of Saadat Hasan Manto to the stage, starring in plays like Manto Ke Aadmi, Partition and Manto Ki Auratein. These roles showcased his remarkable talent and range, laying a solid foundation for his transition to films.

Now, Abhishek is stepping into the cinematic world with Ishq Na Kario, a romantic song directed by Shadab Ahmad and produced under Dhanbad Talkiez by Rajessh Singh. The song, shot in the scenic landscapes of Dehradun, pairs Abhishek with the talented Sana Sultan Khan. Abhishek shares that the transition from stage to screen has been a learning experience, and he is excited to showcase his skills in a new medium. With Ishq Na Kario set to introduce him to a wider audience, Abhishek Kumar’s journey from theatre to film has just begun. His unwavering dedication and strong artistic foundation ensure that he is an actor to watch as he continues to rise in the entertainment industry.
