One by one Bollywood superstars are facing a boycott and their movie turns into a flop show. From Amir Khan’s Laal Singh Chadha, Alia Bhatt’s Darlings, and Akshay Kumar’s Rakshabandhan. Even later films such as Deepika Padukone’s Padmavat and Amir Khan’s PK faced somewhere the same fate.
According to the ace actor Anupam Kher “Boycotting a movie isn’t behind its failure, if we talk about Amir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha, it might be a possibility that movie just wasn’t that good. If we talk about Kashmir Files, there was a new trend to boycott it every day. A good movie will always find its way to success. Word of mouth is significant, the group that is boycotting a movie is just around 5-10% of the audience. After Amir’s controversial speech on intolerance, his movies like Dangal and PK did so well.”
According to Anupam Kher, when you are at such a prestigious level you should be very careful of what you speak because millions are people listening to you.
Root causes back then
BOYCOTT reason: Links with the UNDERWORLD MAFIA
In the past, the movie industry was funded with cash, which made it attractive to the people with a high volume of black money. People such as politicians, gangsters, and others get a high return on investment. Which forced these Bollywood stars to have a relationship with mafias.
For example, Monica Bedi was in a relationship with Abu Salim, Mandakini was in with Dawood Ibrahim and Mamta Kulkarni was in with Chota Rajan.
BOYCOTT reason: Links with the EXTREMIST TERRORIST GROUPS
Superstars like Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt, and Sunil Datt were within pictures with Dawood Ibrahim and many more wanted criminals. Anil Kapoor in his biography “Khullam Khulla” said that he met with Dawood Ibrahim twice and that he is a very warm-hearted person. Even Salman Khan was found forcing Ashwariya Rai on record to do a show with Abu Salim.
Photographs of Shahrukh Khan and his wife with Tony Ashai(anti-India,anti-Modi, Kashmir separatist leader). Big names such as Karan Johar, Anil Kapoor, and Sonam Kapoor were with Anil Mussarat(Anit India separatist, ex Pakistani General)
The rise in NATIONALISM and SELF AWARENESS
As we all proceeded into the globalization era, the youth is getting more conscious about their religion and their community. With those two they can’t tolerate a bit. Its credibility and reality is a different conversation and that is up to you, how sensitive your sentiments, that is up to you. But we can say this without a doubt, people have started taking their religion as a BRAND as if one is better than the other.
According to some experts and leftist critics, these sudden cultural differences are due the political agendas.
All these reasons were the root causes of hate on Bollywood from the audience. Which later turned their narrative into anti-India and anti-Hindu. People didn’t have access to knowledge that much in past, but now the internet revolution has made them more updated.
