In the most recent teaser for Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion, Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury makes a personal return to Earth to undertake a new mission. Whether it is the Avengers, Spider-Man, or Captain Marvel, fans of the MCU are accustomed to seeing Fury teaming up with several of Earth’s most powerful heroes. Fury, though, makes it appear in the trailer that he will be fighting alone this time. When compared to the comic book version of the Secret Invasion tale, it’s a fresh route for the former S.H.I.E.L.D. head in the MCU.

Secret Invasion was an original Marvel Comics story

The original Secret Invasion featured characters from the entire Marvel Universe and was one of the biggest crossover events in the history of Marvel Comics. The Avengers were, nevertheless, at the center of the narrative. Due to the consequences of the Superhuman Registration Act from the Civil War, two different teams of Avengers—Tony Stark’s authorized Mighty Avengers and the anti-registration New Avengers—became involved in the Skrull invasion. During the event, Skrulls took the place of various well-known Marvel characters, including Spider-Woman, Elektra, Hank Pym, and the inhuman Black Bolt.

Even though the various Avengers received most of the attention, Nick Fury still had a significant role to play in the Secret Invasion comic book plot. The comic event began with Fury in hiding following the events of the Secret War. Much like the upcoming Disney+ series, which kicks off with Fury returning to Earth after a protracted hiatus (not to be confused with Secret Wars). Fury was the one who initially noticed a Skrull invasion, and throughout Secret Invasion. He would command his own squad of Howling Commandos. Yet, Fury is being led down a different route in the MCU adaptation.

Releasing on 21st June on Disney+

Given that Secret Invasion is a tale of secrecy, deceit, and deception. The spy thriller’s lower size in the Marvel Cinematic Universe makes sense. There is still a tonne of action being hinted at. Though it’s not on the same level as the massive clashes between competing superhero teams in the comic. Instead, it appears that the emphasis is on a conflict fought in secret. It happens within the realms of espionage and military intelligence. Instead of putting together a team of heroes. Nick Fury is embracing his past as the top spy for S.H.I.E.L.D. Using a quiet, covert strategy to defeat Earth’s newest foe.

On June 21, Secret Invasion will be available on Disney+.
