Boycott Bollywood: According to the Ormax Box Office Report in the last two years, only 3 movies were considered a blockbuster. Those movies were totally content and nationalism based. The three movies were Tanhaji: the unsung warrior, Sooryavanshi, and 83. Except for spiderman, all the other movies were Tamil or Telegu.

The share of Bollywood movies by the year 2020-21 fell down to 27% from 44% and Tollywood movies on the other hand rose up to 29% from last year’s 13%. This is really obvious if you recall last year’s catchy fun movies they were either Tollywood or Kollywood.

The reason behind the downfall of Bollywood

  • Anti India Anti Hindu narratives: from time and now Bollywood actors, directors, and screenwriters have somewhere in the past tried to ‘MOCK’ the Indian culture and portrayed it as ‘HINDU PHOBIC’  From absurd anti-Hindu scenes in PK by Amir Khan. This controversy also made the netizens dig down his speeches where he said that he and his wife are afraid to live in the country. On the other hand, Shamshera’s bad portrayal of the Hindu religion by Sanjay Dutt’s character. Another example is Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s changing of facts and history later angered the Rajput community. SRK supports Pakistani players to play IPL, etc, etc. The list goes on and on, and people are not ready to forgive them.
  • Same-Old-Bollywood-Drama: People are now tired of a hero fighting hundreds of goons just to save his girlfriend. The lack of story, bad acting, and nepotism in casting. Ignoring the real talent is more of a bigger reason for the downfall of Bollywood.  On the other hand, spending hundreds of crores of rupees and not delivering the story. The global cinema experience is now more common than ever, with the ease of OTT platforms. Bollywood has failed to deliver the global-level story delivery.
  • NEPOTISM: No one can forget how Alia Bhatt’s Sadak 2 got 13 million dislikes in just a span of a few days. People are not ready to accept actors who had special privileges. Karan Johar’s interview in which he said he can cast whoever the f*** he wants, was taken outrageously by the people.
