Kangana Ranaut is going to play the character of Nati Binodni. Om Wednesday the actress gave this information through her Instagram. This biopic is being directed by Pradeep Sarkar. Nati Binodni or Binodni Das was born in the infamous streets of Calcutta(Kolkata) in 1863. She was earlier a tawaif. But her association with music and as a music dancer changed the career of Binodni. At the age of 12, she got involved in theatre. She played her first role in the National theatre in Calcutta in 1874. Kangana Ranaut liked the story of her and decided to do a film on her biopic.

Nati played the characters of Sita, Draupdi, Radha and many more roles of Indian mythological. Nati Binodni played around 80 roles in a career spanning of 80 years.

There have been plays and movies on Binodni`s story in the past as well. Dhanshree Roy played this role in the 1994 film Nati Binodni by Dinesh Gupta. In 2006, noted theatre director Amaal Allana directed a play by the same name, which was performed in Delhi. But now actress Kangna Ranaut will be seen doing her biopic on big screen. But Many actresses were in the queue for this role. These include Deepika Padukone, Vidya Balan, and Aishwarya Rai. But later Kangana Ranaut got selected for this role.
