Nati Binodni or Binodni Das was born in the infamous streets of Calcutta(Kolkata) in 1863. She was earlier a tawaif. But her association with music and as a music dancer changed the career of Binodni. At the age of 12, she got involved in theatre. She played her first role in the National theatre in Calcutta in 1874. Kangana Ranaut liked the story of her and decided to do a film on her biopic.
